Evans Way Park Master Plan, Boston, MA

Evans Way Park, an original component of Olmsted's plan for the Back Bay Fens, is surrounded by some of Boston’s major cultural and educational institutions, including the Gardner Museum, MassArt, the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and Wentworth Institute. CSS is working with MASCO, the Medical Academic and Scientific Community Organization, to formulate a Master Plan to preserve the vital and historic qualities of the park, while upgrading the site to meet the needs of surrounding institutions and respond to an increased level of use.

The Master Plan includes recommendations for phased replacement of the park's informal plantings of large trees, revitalization of the Fenway edge, an expanded circulation system, code upgrades, lighting improvements and new furnishings. New plantings of low seasonal bulbs within the lawn will create a visual link between the park and the larger Fens.
