AWARD

The Life Sciences and Bioengineering Center at Gateway Park received a Silver Hammer Award at the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce's 131st Annual Meeting on Tuesday, December 12, 2006. The Silver Hammer Awards are given yearly by the Chamber to recognize construction or rehabilitation projects that have an extraordinary visual and aesthetic impact on Worcester's physical landscape and that have brought new life to some of the region's most historic assets.

CSS Principals Carole Schlessinger and Skip Smallridge prepared the Master Plan for Gateway Park, which is being developed
as an active mixed-use commercial and residential district with a series of enlivened plazas and tree-lined streets. CSS is currently providing final landscape design for the Life Sciences and Bioengineering Center building - the first built piece of the Master Plan - and the adjacent quad.

Governor-Elect Deval Patrick was the keynote speaker at the luncheon. Patrick toured Gateway Park and the 68 Prescott Street building and held a press conference at the end of the tour.
