The downtown Intermodal Transportation Center is the centerpiece of Normal's downtown revitalization program. The Transportation Center will serve patrons of Amtrak intercity rail (both existing service and the planned high speed rail between Chicago and St. Louis), local buses, intercity buses and taxis. The siting and feasibility study included an evaluation of six sites, as well as a detailed study of potential joint development options including a food court, day care center, public radio station, public and private offices, and a parking garage to serve passengers, building occupants and other downtown facilities.
