Parkville has recently become known as the Hartford area's home furnishing district. The Parkville Master Plan coordinates transportation and land use around a proposed new Bus Rapid Transit station and builds on this identity to create a vibrant mixed-use district that adds new retail and housing and an improved park to the existing office, commercial and light industrial uses. The new transit station, housing and retail will add to the redevelopment momentum already underway. To intensify activity in the area, two new parking garages will serve the new development and transit riders. Park improvements and new streetscape elements beautify the district and encourage further private investment. The implementation strategy includes proposed zoning changes, design guidelines and a phasing plan.
