The Project

As part of the Planning Process for the Roslindale Neighborhood, the Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA) has initiated a study to develop a Neighborhood Strategic Plan. The Plan will focus on land use, housing, open space, the public realm, institutional growth, transportation and urban design. Recommendations for permanent zoning will be developed to replace the current Interim Planning Overlay District (IPOD). The IPOD is an additional layer of zoning regulations in conjunction with underlying zoning.

The IPOD was adopted on April 13, 2005 in response to community concerns regarding recent development projects in Roslindale that have been incompatible with the neighborhood's character. The IPOD includes general land use goals to insure that development contributes to the special character of Roslindale.

The Roslindale Advisory Group, which consists of community, business and institutional representatives, has been formed to work with the City in developing the neighborhood plan, and new zoning for Roslindale.
