Ryan Playground, Boston, MA

Ryan Playground is located on busy Dorchester Avenue where a colorful new "gateway" welcomes visitors to the park and to the East Dorchester neighborhood. The gateway, funded by the Browne Fund, is inspired by the wood details and palette of the neighborhood's Victorian houses.

CSS reconfigured the park to accommodate a variety of play structures and spaces for all ages. Children from the neighborhood painted tiles that decorate a new spraypool which serves as a seating ring when the water is off.

In addition to the many new trees and lawn areas, a large open space was maintained for Arts in the Park events such as concerts and craft workshops.
