CSS is the lead Urban Designer for the reconstruction of Commonwealth Avenue from Packards Corner by Boston University to Kelton Street. In keeping with Complete Streets Guidelines, this well populated street is being redesigned to accommodate pedestrians and bicyclists as well as vehicles. Sustainability is a key goal of the project and opportunities for green infrastructure are being explored. Pedestrian improvements include a new outdoor plaza space at Commonwealth Ave’s intersection with Harvard Street at the heart of the project area and better access to the MBTA’s Green Line station.
