Description
The Green Line Extension (GLX) project is an initiative of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) and the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) to improve corridor mobility, boost transit ridership, improve air quality, ensure equitable distribution of transit services, and support opportunities for smart growth initiatives and sustainable development in the northwest Boston corridor communities of Cambridge, Somerville, and Medford, Massachusetts.
Numerous public meetings were conducted for the specific design of each of the stations. These public meetings were held in two formats. The first of the series was a “Design Workshop” format that presented the massing of the station and its relationship to the surrounding neighborhood.
The second series of public meetings was a “Presentation” format where the formal designs of each of the seven stations were presented to the MBTA Design and Construction Department and each station community. The final design concepts for each station reflect the culmination of this process and the approval of all stakeholders.
