Description

CSS, as a consultant for Boston Parks & Recreation, developed a design for improvements to Francis Parkman Playground in Jamaica Plain, Boston. The design includes revitalized playground facilities, a new pavilion, an accessible entrance, and a defined perimeter to the park. A splash park and adult fitness area will be incorporated into the current site, which will further encourage physical outdoor activity in addition to the existing Little League baseball and softball fields. The design vision is inspired by the work of historian and American wilderness writer Francis Parkman, Jr. and is intended to foster curiosity and amazement with nature in the communities that will visit the playground.
