Red Line Greenway

Cleveland, OH

Description

CSS and teaming partners Michael Baker International, National Engineering & Architecture Services Inc., and KS Associates were selected for the design and development of the Red Line Greenway trail in Cleveland, OH.

The team will work with multiple stakeholders including the Regional Transit Authority, Ohio Department of Transportation, and Cleveland Metroparks to design a sustainable urban rail trail connecting existing and planned trails to nearby neighborhoods, schools and businesses, improving mobility and healthy transportation choices within the community.

The project includes a new civic space utilizing existing topography to create a formal yet natural gathering space for cultural events; a clean, low maintenance design to welcome visitors; and a sustainable site to absorb stormwater and resist drought. The trail is a piece of the renaissance of trail building in Cleveland, turning former industrial conduits into healthy links. The trail will also potentially provide the best skyline and Industrial Valley views in the city.

The project is expected to be completed in 2019.
