Description

Drawing upon the site’s rich topographic history near the water in East Boston, the redesign for Sumner Lamson Playground introduced a series of coastal landform inspired rubber drumlins to playfully weave through new structures and an existing water feature. The renovation of the neighborhood playground required close attention to active local community members’ desires and playful solutions to child safety and accessibility regulations. The Playground includes new play areas integrated with new site furniture and signature paving, walls and gates in addition to updates to a water spray area, stairs and ramps, and basketball court.
